The core concept is your backup score—it’s based on your responses to 8 key topics around your organization’s backup, restore, DR, and retention practices.   All you do is answer the questions.  We’ll compute your score and give you a report that shows your score and provide suggestions for how you might be able to improve. 

Get Detailed Reports.  Users who want to dig deeper can also receive a more detailed report.  It compares the responses in each of the eight specific topic areas to what your peers report and to the results of the most effective IT departments and provides more detailed suggestions about possible approaches to improve. 

Both the Backup Score and the reports are free.  This is a site dedicated to furthering a badly needed discussion about best practices and practical results on the topic of backup, recovery, and retention.   The results you provide are combined with others to build an expanding set of information about what IT departments achieve in this critical area.  They also allow our sponsors to highlight products and services that are designed specifically to help users make data protection more effective and more economical.
